A FORMER Prime Minister has had a brief encounter with a North Lancashire train station.
Sir John Major, Conservative Prime Minister in the early 1990s, visited Carnforth Station’s refreshment room earlier this month.
Sir John, and his wife Nora, were accompanied on their visit by Sir Robert Atkins, Lancashire MEP.
The party spent some time in the visitors centre gift shop and bought a copy of Brief Encounter – the film that propelled the station to fame – as Dame Nora is said to be a fan of the film.
