CHILDREN at Cartmel Priory School enjoyed the delights of good old British grub in celebration of British Food Fortnight.
The youngsters were treated to a tasty lunchtime menu in the school’s dining room - Cartmel Filling Station – throughout the two-week event, which ran from September 20 to October 5.
School kitchen manager, Diane Turner, cooked up a feast of tempting dishes such as Lancashire hotpot, Cumberland sausage and Yorkshire pudding, fish and chips and meat and potato pie.
For those with a sweet tooth, the dessert menu was just as delicious, offering jam roly-poly and custard, sticky toffee pudding, apple crumble and trifle.
The two-week treat was developed as part of the school’s snack committee, which involves pupils and aims to have promotional dates or weeks every month, such as Valentine themes and Halloween themes.
Joanne Drage, the school’s business manager, said: “The children loved it. They like anything like that. We try and do something promotional each month and we try to link it with things that are happening nationally.”
