THE head teacher of Milnthorpe’s Dallam School, Steve Holdup, will speak about how a 50-bedroom boarding accommodation block fits into the governor’s strategy for the future development of the Heversham site when he addresses next Tuesday night’s meeting (December 9) of the Kent Estuary Neighbourhood Forum at Preston Patrick Memorial Hall. Also speaking at the meeting, which starts at 7pm, is Jim Grisenthwaite, Head of Culture for Cumbria County Council, who will speak about the main elements of his job, including the county’s Library and Archive Services.

This winter walk takes you through fine deciduous woodland in the valley of the River Calder, onto slopes above the hurrying river. Near Thornholme, an isolated farmhouse, you cross by footbridges, first the river and then a beck, Worm Gill.
