ULVERSTON-based electrical safety specialists Bender UK is set to expand into a new purpose-built corporate headquarters and service centre.

The company has purchased a development plot opposite its current base at the entrance to the Low Mill Business Park and should break ground on the site in the summer with the aim of completing construction by early 2016.

It marks another exciting chapter in the growth of Bender UK which has almost doubled in size since Steve Mason became managing director in 2010. It now employs almost 40 people and the business continues to grow by up to 20 per cent year-on-year.

In the medical sector Bender UK has extended its capability to offer turnkey operating theatre solutions in addition to providing electrical infrastructure equipment and high performance Steris LED surgical lighting for hospitals.

Bender UK has also enjoyed outstanding success supplying signalling safety equipment to Network Rail, and has strengthened its presence across key sectors in Ireland.

Notable high profile successes include supplying equipment for the Astute class submarines, and supporting teams taking part in the 2015 Formula E Series electric car race series.

CEO of the Bender Group in Germany Dr Dirk Pieler was recently in Ulverston to look over plans for the new building with Mr Mason.

Dr Pieler commented: “Bender UK has enjoyed outstanding success and I am working closely with Steve Mason on planning to ensure that the company has the resources to continue to expand.

“That will mean more jobs for local people in South Lakeland but will also include recruiting in other parts of the UK to strengthen our service network so that we can continue to provide the highest levels of support which our customers expect from Bender, alongside cutting edge electrical safety technology.”

The new HQ will be purpose-designed to incorporate Bender UK’s sales personnel, customer service operators and the technical service teams.
