A FAMILY-run pub and hotel has been named as CAMRA's Westmorland Pub of the Year - for the second time.

Katie Ridding, from The Orange Tree at Kirkby Lonsdale, put the success down to the hard work of its staff over the past 12 months.

"Not only is it an award for the pub as a whole but also for our award winning Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery beer," she said.

"It's great to be rewarded for all our hard work and we are now being considered for Cumbria Pub of the Year, and if successful, National Pub of the Year.

"Our whole team has worked incredibly hard to maintain a high standard throughout every aspect of our traditional, family-run pub.

"This is reflected in the award as it shows we are not only serving good beer, but creating a great ambience with our accommodation and locally-sourced food.

"Our family has been in the pub trade all our lives and we pride ourselves on making the pub a part of the local community and sports teams."

She added it was hoping to add two more hand-pulls in the near future to offer more Kirkby Lonsdale beers and introduce more hand-pull ciders.
