RETAILERS are being offered a chance to trade rent-free for three years from a prime shopping unit in Kendal.

Nearly 1,400 sq ft of retail space in Westmorland Shopping Centre is being offered at zero-rent until September 2018.

Liverpool agents Hitchcock Wright and Partners (HWP) have been marketing the former Conlons Opticians unit since January 2015, and say they 'hope this latest incentive can generate interest in the vacant unit'.

Last December, Conlons was acquired by Vision Express, which continues to trade from its original unit within Westmorland Shopping Centre.

HWP partner Matt Kerrigan said the deal, which would be subject to landlord approval, would leave the incoming tenant responsible only for insurance, service charge and business rates until September 2018.

These amount to around £23,400 pa and the deal would be subject to landlord approval.

The premises are held on a lease for five years from September 2013 at a current rental of £29,100 per annum.

The shop is located on the upper level of Westmorland Shopping Centre and neighbouring traders include many national multiples including Topshop, Superdrug, GAME, Clinton Cards and Waterstones.
