A YORKSHIRE Dales creamery has celebrated the start of summer with the launch of a new ice cream to be sold at its popular visitor centre.

The Wensleydale Creamery at Hawes has teamed up with Brymor Ice Cream to create Wensleydale and ginger cheesecake flavoured ice cream.

It is inspired by the famous signature dish; Yorkshire Wensleydale and ginger cheesecake, which is served at creamery's visitor centre.

The ice cream is made with whole milk from Brymor’s own herd of pedigree Guernsey cows, and double cream, which is combined with Yorkshire Wensleydale and ginger cheese and a biscuit crumble. The result is an indulgent creamy delight with the subtle flavour of Yorkshire Wensleydale and ginger cheese, and a note of buttery biscuit.

To coincide with the launch, The Wensleydale Creamery has opened a bespoke ice cream shop area at its visitor centre, selling a range of Brymor’s Guernsey ice cream flavours, alongside the Yorkshire Wensleydale and ginger cheesecake ice cream. A tempting Brymor ice cream sundae menu has also been added to the food offer in the 1897 Coffee Shop and Calvert’s Restaurant.

Sandra Bell, marketing manager at The Wensleydale Creamery, said: “Our home-made Yorkshire Wensleydale and ginger cheesecake has always been a hit in our visitor centre.

"Many people request our recipe, and so we thought what better way to embrace the summer than to create an indulgent ice cream with this flavour.”

“We’re delighted to be linking up with another proud Yorkshire dairy producer, Brymor, to create this unique flavoured ice cream. We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors and delighting them with a real taste of Yorkshire!”

Nicola Moore, operations director of Brymor said: “We are thrilled to be working in partnership with The Wensleydale Creamery on this unique and innovative flavour. Brymor is known for its great taste and choice of flavours, and we are looking forward to helping bring the great taste of this ice cream to customers at the creamery visitor centre, and at our Brymor Ice Cream Parlour at High Jervaulx too."
