A Japanese firm has put in a bumper order for Royal Wedding Jam made in the Lake District.
Production of limited edition Princely Plum Jam, made in Hawkshead by Hawkshead Relish, was extended to meet the request of tea specialists Barlington Inc.
Six hundred jars of the commemorative condiment, which marks the marriage of HRH Prince William to Catherine Middleton, are now to be shipped to Osaka in the Kansai eastern region.
Hawkshead Relish managing director Mark Whitehead said the jars, filled with their own recipe of English plums and Champagne, was the first Japanese order the firm had ever attracted.
“We had no intention of following up this limited creation with another run but we decided it would be our pleasure for our Far Eastern friends,” said Mr Whitehead.
