Westmorland Gazette Business & Tourism Awards
THE Westmorland Gazette today launches its 2013 Business and Tourism Awards, which have become established as one of the premier events in the North West business calendar.
Last year, 130 entries were received from companies around South Lakeland, Eden, Furness, north Lancashire and north Yorkshire - all keen to be recognised for their entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen.
And this year’s awards are expected to be just as eclectic, with enterprises vying for top spot in 11 categories, including the ultimate accolade - the coveted Business of the Year award, which is open to any company. Businesses small and large, new and old, traditional and innovative can enter the awards, which cover all manner of enterprises, from hospitality and tourism to innovation and technology.
Social and community specialities are also recognised in the awards, as are companies and organisations that focus on team building or training and development.
Other popular categories include Retailer of the Year and the Green Business Award.
Winners for all the categories will be announced at a glittering ceremony to be held at the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal on Friday, September 27.
Last year’s Business of the Year went to quality meat company Lakes Speciality Foods of Staveley, an enterprise which has seen outstanding growth since it was formed in 2004.
Entry is free and competing firms can enter multiple categories until the closing date, August 5.
