The Power of Social Media - Facebook!

Like it or loathe it, the power of social media is hard to ignore. It is a relatively new development, but one that isn’t going to go away. Facebook is evolving rapidly and becoming more and more relevant for businesses. Set-up a ‘Fan’ Page and post news and stories to it as often as you can. It’s easy for family and friends to join in and is very low cost, except for time! If you do have a budget, think about Facebook adverts. They can be very targeted, but you do need a website or extensive Facebook site to fully take advantage of them.

Review Websites

This is vital for those seeking to attract travellers from outside the area who may be looking to visit your region. Whatever your view of Tripadvisor, it has become a very powerful marketing tool, allowing you to also manage comments. An honest reply to a poor review is better than no reply at all.

Offers

Consider making offers to attract new clients. Groupon and others will not make you money on the offer itself, but they will get people through the door and can help spread the word. Do however plan it carefully. The offer may reduce your margin but don’t let it change how you treat the customer. Afterall, they are merely taking advantage of your marketing.

Leaflets

A good old fashioned leaflet can still go a long way and small printers will often design it for you too. Write clearly and concisely about what you have to offer and take good pictures - they are often more enticing than the words.
