CUMBRIA Police have asked for help after an alleged common assault on a footpath near Staveley.

Police say the incident happened on the Beck Micklewood footpath running between Bowston and Staveley.

Common assault is where someone is in fear of violence.

Officers want to speak to two women - one with dark hair and the other with fairer short hair who was wearing a short top.

The pair were walking three dogs including a brown and white terrier, a Border collie and a cream Labrador.

Police have not specified whether the women were potential witnesses or if they are suspected of involvement in the alleged incident.

Neither have they released information about the complainant or the alleged complaint.

If any member of the public thinks they might be able to help, they have been asked to call the non-emergency line on 101 and ask for PC 1217 Newsham.
