NINE trophies worth nearly £1,000 were stolen during a burglary at Silverdale Golf Club in North Lancashire.

The Red Bridge Lane building was broken into overnight between July 8 and 9 and the items removed from two cabinets, police said.

Officers are investigating the theft and have urged people to come forward with any information.

Sergeant James Martin, of Lancashire Police, said: “We want to do all we can to return the property to the club.

“These trophies are not just of monetary value but are of sentimental value to many people and so we would urge anyone with any information at all that could help to come forward.

“If anybody in the area either heard or saw anything suspicious on the night in question, or perhaps in the days and nights leading up to the burglary, then please get in touch.”

Information can be passed to Lancashire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
