A MAN accused of giving custody officers the slip at the weekend has today been re-arrested.

Police said Lancaster Farms inmate, David Osbaldeston, 20, escaped from custody during the early hours of Saturday.

He had given officials the slip after being taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary after telling them he had taken an overdose, said a police statment.

Lancashire Police said Osbaldeston was detained on Dunnyshop Avenue in Accrington at around 8am this morning - having spent the previous 15 hours on the roof of a house.

They said he eventually came down without incident having been involved in negotiations since 5pm on Sunday.

Police said he has been arrested on suspicion of escaping from lawful custody, threats to kill and criminal damage and is currently in custody.

He was jailed in September 2011 and had been serving two years and six months for motoring and assault offences.
