AN AFFORDABLE housing scheme in Grasmere has received support from local residents.

According to Two Castles Housing, more than 50 people attended consultation events in August about plans to create 10 new energy-efficient two- and three-bedroom homes for local people at Smithy Bridge, and more than 90 per cent welcomed the development.

Proposals to develop 13 additional new homes on a separate site in the village at Swan Lane, will be put on hold because residents were opposed to any new development there due to concerns it would spoil the views and visual approach to the village.
