A VERY unlikely annual celebration is in store for one South Lakeland family.

For amazingly, a new baby girl born into the Prickett family, of Hutton Roof, near Kirkby Lonsdale, shares her birthday with not only her father but her grandmother too.

The likelihood of little Livy Prickett arriving on January 23 had been calculated at being 48 million to one.

But she overcame those odds to enter the world at Furness General Hospital on Saturday at 3.43pm weighing 9.1lbs.

She arrived five days before mum Natasha was due to give birth.

Dad James, 35, was understandably surprised at his unusual birthday present.

"I was a bit shell shocked really," he said. "But I didn't have the time to have much of a reaction because we were in the hospital and you've just got to get on with it."

Grandmother Sue, 58, is grateful for Livy's timely arrival as there is no chance of ever forgetting her birthday.

"I didn't realise just how much of a coincidence it was at first," she said. "I was quite pleased though because it just means that it is only one day to have to remember.

"Everyone in the village seems to be really pleased for us. It's a very close community."
