A BOOK written about a popular Ambleside pub was well received at a successful launch event.

The Rule Book, written by Scottish author Martin Kielty, is a series of short stories and anecdotes based on events that really happened in and around The Golden Rule pub.

More than 100 people packed out the Robinsons venue at the launch event, where the author read a chapter of his new release and long-standing landlord John Lockley addressed the crowd.

Mr Kielty said: "It went brilliantly well actually, the pub was completely full and I sold a lot of books.

"We also found out that The Rule Book is the first book written about one of the Robinsons pub, and there's more than 300.

"The interesting thing was the amount of people I met that weren't from Ambleside or the Lake District but had discovered the Golden Rule and visit the area to drink here.

"I signed a lot of books and then we drank the night away, it was great."
