On behalf of the churches of Grange, and the Cumbria Methodist District, I wish to express our deep sadness that LWP Homes has found it necessary to make the difficult decision to close Westerley Care Home.
At a local level many people from the various churches in Grange have been involved with the home through visiting, helping with social activities, services and daily prayers, and fundraising.
Locally, the church has also provided a chaplain. However, despite long-standing national links between LWP Homes and the Methodist Church, the charity has never been a formal part of the church.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the residents, staff and families, and we are seeking to offer ongoing pastoral support to residents following their move, if they would find that helpful.
Before the home finally closes, there will be a short Service of Thanksgiving, held at Westerley, The Esplanade, on Sunday, June 5, at 4.15pm, followed by tea with the residents at 5pm. All are welcome to come and celebrate the love and care that has been given and received here throughout the years.
The Rev Jo Rand
Minister, South Lakes Methodist Circuit
Chaplain, Westerley, Grange-over-Sands
