A KENDAL dance school cleared the table at the biggest competition in the country.

More than ten different dance schools performed to hundreds of people at Dance Challenge UK at the Fleetwood Marine Park Theatre.

The 35 members of Dance Atikk won trophies for five different dance routines.

They also won the adjudicators' choice - the night's most prestigious award - for the open group's dance number called ‘Elements.'

Tinies, featuring four to six year-olds won fourth place with Music Box Dance, described as a 'cute, upbeat and fun' number for the little ones.

The juveniles, aged between six and eight, took first place with their Super Ds dance routine, a 'fast and lively' commercial street number.

A street jazz number called 'The Lost Hour,' based on the 'Alice in Wonderland' story, secured the junior group, aged seven to 12, second place in their section.

Dance Atikk principal Lucy Everett said: "What an amazing achievement. It was a fantastic day, the dancers were outstanding. I'm so impressed and proud of each and every one of my team."

The group has now reached to the grand finals of the Dance Challenge UK competition to be held at Blackpool's Winter Gardens in November.

Dance Atikk will be performing a school show at Kendal Leisure Centre, starting at 2pm on July 8, which will be free to all senior citizens. Any monies raised will go towards the Alzheimer's Society. There will also be a show at 6pm.
