JUBILEE fever took over Natland with an almighty street party that scores of residents turned out to enjoy.

Organisers made a last minute decision to host the bring-your-own-picnic in the village hall due to today's light rain.

Union jack styled bunting, flags, cups and plates decorated the interior of the building. There was also live music by Kendal Concert Band for party-goers to enjoy while eating their cream cakes.

One of the organisers Barbara Nelson said she was 'really pleased with the community effort'.

"It's been a lot of fun," said Mrs Nelson. "We would have liked to have the event outside but no one is letting it ruin the day."

She added her favourite royal was definitely the Queen.

"She's done an exceptionally good job over the last 60 years and it's really nice to have a day to mark that."

To close the event, Dave the Rave will be taking centre stage singing some of the biggest hits from over the last six decades.
