Flooding caused by heavy overnight rain and several road accidents are causing chaos for commuters this morning.

There are reports of long queues eastbound at Lindal-in-Furness due to standing floodwater on the road.

Traffic is very slow due to flooding on A590 Ulverston Road between The Green/London Road and A595 Askam Road/Askam Road (Elliscales Roundabout). Traffic is also busy on several smaller roads in the area as drivers try to avoid this.

There are also reports of flooding on the A593 at Broughton-in-Furness and the road is said to be just passable with care on the A6070 at Holme due to flooding.

There is slow traffic due to surface water on A6 Church Street between B5282 Park Road, the B6384 Main Street and the A590 (Levens Hall).

There are reports of flooding on the A684 Castle Green Road at Parkside Road, Kendal and the arterial A591 at Ings is just passable due to flooding and drivers are being warned to approach that area with care.

Traffic is slow on the A65 at Crooklands due to flooding and surface water.

Hasty Brow Road at Torrisholme is closed due to flooding.

 

Meanwhile one lane was closed for a time due to an accident on the M6 Northbound around J35 at Carnforth. The acident has now cleared and all lanes are now open and traffic has returned to normal.

There was queueing traffic and one lane was closed due to flooding and an overturned car on M6 Southbound around J34  at Lancaster. However, the overturned car has now been removed, all lanes are open and traffic is easing.
