A KENDAL man is celebrating after his chip shop was named among the fish-frying elite in the UK.
Simon Liness’s Bath Street Fish and Chip shop, in Barrow, scooped a prestigious Fish and Chip Quality Award, recognising good-quality products and high standards of hygiene.
His shop was given the award by the National Federation of Fish Friers, and it is valid for two years.
Mr Liness, of Heron Hill, said: “The award means a great deal to us as we have come a long way from a derelict shop into a nationally-recognised fish and chip shop.
We didn’t just pass. We achieved one of the highest scores in the country. We are very lucky to have a dedicated team of staff, and a loyal customer base.”
Mr Liness is now looking to open a business in Kendal.
