A PUB worker had to be rescued by the fire service in the early hours of this morning after a blaze broke out at the Black Dog Inn, Dalton-in-Furness.
Fire fighters wearing breathing equipment found the man asleep in his first-floor bedroom at the Broughton Road pub and led him to safety.
He was checked over by paramedics at the scene but did not require treatment.
Rescuers received a call about the fire at 5.09am this morning from a passerby who noticed the pub's roof was on fire.
Crews sent two fire engines from Barrow, one from Dalton and an ariel platform ladder, also from Barrow.
The narrow road was closed while they tackled the blaze which was brought under control by 6.30am. The road re-opened at 8.30am this morning.
