A CAFE supporting a local hospice will be reopening with a completely new look in Ulverston this weekend.

St Mary’s Hospice's Orangery Café's interior is being updated with new décor to give a refreshing look that encapsulates the hospice's values.

Staff and volunteers have worked with local suppliers to deliver the refurbished café on a small budget.

“The Orangery is a place for everyone to enjoy our lovely café and also a place for relatives to take some often much needed time out. Customers can enjoy being in a new fresher space while enjoying their usual favourites," Clare Tyson, St Mary’s Café Coordinator, said.

"We look forward to welcoming old and new customers alike. If you haven’t given us a try before, now is the perfect time!”

Located at the front of the Hospice in Ulverston, the Orangery boasts stunning views over the garden to Morecambe Bay.

The café acts as a social hub where the public can enjoy a delicious range of light bites, hot and cold sandwiches, daily specials, scrumptious cakes and a variety of drinks.

There are always gluten free and vegetarian options on the menu.

“The Orangery café is a great place to meet friends, enjoy lovely home cooked food and to take in those fantastic views," Suzi Lake, Head of Finance for the hospice, said. "It raises vital funds for St Mary’s, and all of the profits go directly to ensuring we continue to deliver the highest standard of care. So a cake from our café really is guilt-free!”

Dogs are welcome to join their owners on the terrace and those driving can park up on the adjoining car park and stroll straight in through the cafes double doors.

The café also provides a gift shop full to the brim with gifts, with café and gift shop primarily staffed by volunteers.

“The gift shop reopens alongside the Orangery café with some fresh new season stock, every penny spent in the gift shop goes directly to support the Hospice so if you have never visited before why not come and have a look?”

The café and gift shop provide a regular, sustainable source of income for the charity, while increasing the awareness of the role St Mary's plays in the community.

All proceeds help St Mary's continue to provide essential free care, comfort and support to patients with a life-shortening illness or long-term condition and support for their families.

The re-opening of Orangery will take place on Saturday March 31 at 10.30am.

The café is open 7 days a week, 10.30am to 3.30pm.
