Drivers are being urged to take care in potentially icy conditions in Cumbria this morning.
"The combination of large amounts of standing water on roads and sub-zero temperatures in parts of the county have made for potentially hazardous driving conditions this morning and drivers are urged to take care," said a Cumbria County Council spokesman.
"Gritters were out overnight treating roads, but due to the number of places with standing water or with water running across, there will be some icy patches as the grit can be washed away by the rain.
"There is the potential for icy roads in the east of the county during the next few hours. Road surface temperatures have dipped below freezing in the Shap, Stainmore, and higher Pennine areas this morning."
