MOTORISTS concerned about the road closures in Cumbria can find out the latest news here.
In South Lakeland, the A595 from Kirkstone at Cookhouse corner has been re-opened.
In Eden, all closures in the following areas have been re-opened: Plumpton, Ruckcroft nr Armathwaite, Moorhowe Road in Troutbeck, the A592 at Glenridding, A689 Nentsbury, the A6 at Shap, Appleby town centre, Salkeld Road, in Penrith, and Little Strickland.
Meanwhile, the road from the B6277 down into Garrigill is now open for use, but with care.
About 40 tonnes of material had to be removed off the road. Rock gabions have been installed to hold the bank. The road needs to be swept to remove all loose material and remaining debris.
It is likely that strengthening repairs will be required to the banking - assessments will be carried out as soon as conditions allow.
In Allerdale, the B5322 St John’s in the Vale remains closed but is due to re-open at around 5pm tonight.
Roadworks will continue off the carriageway for the next four days.
The B5301 at Arkelby, Aspatria has been re-opened In Copeland, Corney Fell will remain closed until late this afternoon.
Cumbria County Council and Cumbria Police are urging all road users to take extra care as icy conditions are expected countywide over the weekend.
Cumbria Police’s website (www.cumbria.police.uk/traffic link-map) provides live updates on traffic and road disruption across the county.
