A BARN of hay caught fire at Rookby near Kirkby Stephen this afternoon.
Fire engines from Kirkby Stephen and Appleby attended the scene where 30 square metres of straw was alight.
Crew members battled the fire for two hours using hose reels, two main jets, two sets of breathing apparatus and a pump.
It was put out by 5pm.
