Killington call out for air ambulance paramedics

A MAN from Shap had to be rescued by air-bound paramedics after falling in a remote Cumbrian beauty spot.

Great North Air Ambulance's Pride of Cumbria helicopter helped the ambulance service at the scene at Holme Knot, near Killington, at 12.45pm today (Thursday).

The 58-year-old man had slipped and fallen while crossing a stream, but the closest the land ambulance was able to get to the patient was about two miles.

A doctor and paramedic treated the pateint at scene before he was flown to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary for further treatment with non-life threatening injuries.
