A MALE driver had to be air lifted to hospital with serious head injuires after a car over turned on the M6 motorway, near Tebay.
The man who was in a blue Honda Jazz had been travelling southbound on the M6 inbetween junction 38 and 39 when the car crashed.
Three fire engines, Cumbria Polcie and The Great North Air ambulance attended the accident at approximately 9:50am this morning (September 17).
Two passengers escaped without assistance however a third man needed to be cut from the vehicle by Cumbria Fire Service.
They were all then transferred to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
One lane had to be closed for five hours while debris had to be cleared from the road.
