A VICTORIAN hotel on the shores of Windermere has been chosen as a showcase for one of Britain’s most iconic home design companies.
The Belsfield Hotel in Bowness is undergoing a refurbishment featuring designs from Laura Ashley.
Every room in the 62-bedroom hotel will be decorated using the world famous company’s interiors collection.
And all of the decor will be available for guests to buy online during their stay.
The multi-million pound development is expected to create a number of new jobs when most of the work is completed in July.
The hotel, which is Grade II listed and was built in 1845, will become only the second Laura Ashley hotel in the world, said general manager Richard Greensmith.
“Laura Ashley designers have been working with architects to create rooms that reflect the classic British feel,” he explained.

Work includes refitting all the bedrooms, the library, the restaurant, the brasserie, conference rooms and the reception.
The hotel’s six acre gardens are to be redesigned as well as the layout of the car park.
It will also mean that the hotel is upgraded from its current three stars.
