THE Sheepfest weekend has arrived and on Saturday and Sunday more than 100 comic, surprising and colourful sheep will be displayed on the streets around the town.

The event has been organised by Anne Pierson and her Farfield Mill team to mark National Heritage weekend

. Businesses, families, school, voluntary groups, clubs and individuals have created and made a sheep to display which represents their business or group, farm or shop.

There have been a number of workshops at the People’s Hall to help people to make their sheep and many different examples have been made with the help of the imaginative team.

At the mill there is a sheep entitled A Technicolor Dream coat made by 700 children contributing a woven square towards its coat.

At the mill or on Main Street people can try their hand at spinning, weaving, lace making and various other wool related skills.

All events and activities are free over this heritage weekend. Check out the mill’s website for more information www.farfieldmill.org or telephone 015396-21958.

Residents are requested to be kind enough to try to avoid using the two main car parks so that there are maximum spaces for visitors.

Spellbound Theatre will be performing The Wheel Turns written by local writer Helen Bromley at Farfield Mill on Saturday and Sunday. Performances will take place at intervals during the day 11am, 1pm and 3pm.

Entrance to the mill is free over this Heritage weekend.
