ULVERSTON Gardener’s Society committee were happy to report another successful annual show.

Overall entries were the same as last year as the town’s Coronation Hall filled with the best local growers produced.

The recent spell of good weather increased the flower entries, as roses, dahlias and chrysanthemums vied with one another to produce the biggest contribution to the colours and perfumes in the hall.

Entries in the vegetable section had suffered because of the season – where there are usually into the teens of tomatoes these were reduced into single figures.

The Blue Ribbon for best horticultural exhibit was a beautifully arranged bowl of miniature roses staged by John Bell.
