FIFTY new homes could be built in Levens if plans are approved by South Lakeland District Council.
Manchester-based property agents GVA have submitted an outline planning application on behalf of The Levens Estate for 50 houses on a greenfield site
The land, to the east of Greengate Crescent, currently consists of a single field.
The planning documents say that, “The provision of additional housing will provide greater housing choice within the area.

“Although the exact mix of housing has not yet been determined, it will respond to market needs, whilst also complementing the existing offer in Levens.”
They add that 17 (35 per cent) of the new homes will be ‘affordable housing’.
The agents say that during a consultation with villagers they received 51 positive comments and 31 that raised concerns about the development.
Concerns voiced included an increase in traffic, road safety being adversely affected and disruption caused by construction activity.
Chair of Levens Parish Council Roger Atfield said: “It is a well-designed development and the parish council have no objections.
“We appreciate that houses have got to be built and all we are trying to do as a village is ensure the development is a good one.”
