WHILE many revellers were lying in bed recovering from the previous night's celebrations, one great grandmother-of-three spent New Year's Day morning in the chilly waters of Windermere.
Rosemary Tulk, 75, from Windermere, took the plunge into the water close to the Royal Windermere Yacht Club near Bowness as the first part of a triple header for the charity fundraiser.
MORE TOP STORIES: Rosemary, a retired housekeeper who worked at the yacht club and Holbeck Ghyll hotel, is raising money for Neuro-Endocrine Cancer Research in memory of her daughter Linda Harrison, 39, who passed away from the illness two-and-a-half years ago.
"We raised a lot of money for St John's Hospice but nothing for research which is why I wanted to do this," she said.
The next step in the challenge will be to fly down the zip-wire at Brockhole on February 22, the day before her daughter’s birthday, before having her head shaved and a pink mohican on April 14, the anniversary of her death.
