The development - close to St Mary’s Primary School and bordering the Queen Elizabeth School sports pitches - comprises 17 different house types, from two-bedroom to four-bedroom homes.

Russell Armer said 35 per cent of the properties would be “affordable homes for local people”.

Details of landscaping, drainage and other infrastructure have also been submitted as part of the comprehensive planning application, which is expected to be considered by SLDC early next year.

Russell Armer’s application follows a “thorough” public consultation process conducted by SLDC as an integral part of their adopted development brief for the site.

The housebuilder has since carried out its own public consultation, and liaised with local residents, to create a proposal that takes into account the needs of both new and existing home owners in the area.

Russell Armer’s managing director, Martyn Nicholson, said: “The Kirkby Lonsdale development has been thoughtfully and sympathetically planned. It will create new homes for local people and affordable residential options for those working in and around Kirkby Lonsdale.

“Additionally, the development will trigger significant funding for local infrastructure via the New Homes Bonus and the Community Infrastructure Levy delivering benefits to local residents in the Kirkby Lonsdale area.”
