A LAKE District hotel has been named the tenth most romantic in Europe in the 2017 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards for hotels.

The Grasmere Hotel was also named the third most romantic hotel in the UK. It also finished 13th in the best service category and seventh in the bargain category.

Proprietor Rob van der Palen believes the romantic atmosphere comes with the hospitality the small Victorian hotel provides.

“I am proud to say that we have been the best hotel in the Lake District on TripAdvisor for four years running," he said. "I would like to thank all of our staff and guests.”
