A HUSBAND and wife team is looking forward to serving the community after taking over the reins at a Kendal charity.
Captain Alex and Major Maggie Cadogan, both 49, have been appointed as the new leaders of the Salvation Army corps at the citadel in Gillinggate, Kendal.
They were officially appointed during a service on Sunday at the church hall, and will replace Majors Peter and Pat Exon, who have retired.
The Cadogans come to the Lake District with more than 30 years’ experience of ministry and social action in Salvation Army churches across the UK, including Aberdeen and Chesterfield Alex said: “We are excited about being in Kendal and having the opportunity to serve the community. We hope our work will further develop the ministry that is already here and are looking to work together closely with other churches in Kendal and the district.
“The Salvation Army asked us to come and look after things here. It has been without a leader for nearly a year but has great potential. There is a wonderful set up here and wonderful work done with children and older people.
“Maggie has holidayed here before but I am totally new to the Lake District and in the short time we have been here I have been really struck by the beauty of the area, and also by the welcome we have received from people. It has been really great.”
