Media laps up the Mint beard and beanie look

KENDAL Town have been at the centre of a media storm surrounding their new sponsorship deal.

And if all goes to plan beards could be the talk of the Town... and the nation.

Kendal have struck up a deal with Cumbrian gifts company Rosetta, which designs ‘beard beanies’ consisting of a hat and attached fake beard.

The players donned them before their friendly with Lostock St Gerard’s last week and are wearing them for pre-match warm-ups.

The odd headgear and beard combination featured in the Daily Mirror and The Times and the players even appeared on Sky Sports News, with chairman Haydon Munslow interviewed.

He said: "This deal has raised the profile of the club and a local business in Kendal.

"The players have entered into the spirit of it and it really has helped the team to bond before the new season."

Town skipper Marc Joseph said: “It was one of our most unusual photo-calls ever and certainly not something you see every day on the pitch. We got some funny looks but we loved them.”

“They have been a huge hit in America and we are confident they will be a big seller here in the UK”, said Rosetta boss Steve Keable.

”And we even do them in a seasonal red and white so everyone can have a bash at the beard and tache just in time for Christmas.”
