A NEW champagne and café bar has opened in the Lake District.

The Fizzy Tarté, on Ash Street, Bowness, specialises in champagne, cocktails, upmarket coffee and a French style patisserie; and following a frenetic first weekend, is expecting a bumper season.

Owner and creator, Stephen Hargreaves, together with managing director Kay Harrison-Mann, and digital manager, Graham Hadaway, hoped to create a completely unique business and experience, attracting a high end clientele.

They believe The Fizzy Tarté, which has a capacity of 95, will be a huge boost to the local economy.

“We couldn’t be more delighted with our first few days of opening and the feedback we have received from visitors, local residents and businesses has been superb,” said Mr Hargreaves, who is also CEO of the Cranleigh Boutique Hotel and the Boutique Church Suites.

“Our objective right from the outset was to create an upmarket ‘city bar’ that appears to have been ‘lifted’ up from London and placed on the shores of Lake Windermere; and we’ve achieved that.

Patrons have particularly enjoyed the cocktails, champagne, music, styling and the skills of our knowledgeable staff.

"We hope The Fizzy Tarté will contribute to an overall boost for tourism in the Lakes.”

The Fizzy Tarté sells top end brands such as Krug, Cristal, Bollinger, Veuve Clicquot and Illy coffee, with a VIP booth area for those wishing to go ‘all out’.

Local resident Chris Jackson, from the Lakes’ premier cottage company, 'Heart of the Lakes', applauded the establishment as a fresh and welcome addition.

He said: “The Fizzy Tarté is very different. The music and vibe are very cool and I was served the best mojito I’ve ever tasted.

“I believe The Fizzy Tarté will appeal to both the local and visitor market as a stylish bar that’s not in a hotel. I hope this is now the start of something new in Bowness and that other businesses will follow suit.”
