KENDAL fundraisers have been holding a series of tea parties across Cumbria to launch the Blooming Great Tea Party Campaign.

Marie Curie Cancer Care is behind the initiative, and Elaine Bamford from the charity was out in Kendal town centre where she had time for tea and cakes.

The tea trail took in nine towns and villages in two days to encourage other local people to hold their own tea party this June and July to help raise funds for the charity.

Elaine said: “We wanted to take on as many types of tea party in as many places as possible to encourage others to do the same.

“It’s a fun, and delicious, way to raise money for the charity — whether it’s a simple gathering of friends for a cuppa, afternoon tea or a garden party.

“Holding a Blooming Great Tea Party is a great way to get together with friends or family.

“The money raised by simply popping the kettle on will help more Marie Curie Nurses to provide free care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes.”
