KIRKBY Lonsdale got into the festive spirit for the switch-on of the town's lights at its Christmas Fair weekend.

Santa, complete with real reindeer, put in an appearance and thrilled the crowds as he moved along the streets magically switching on the lights.

He also set up a grotto in Market Square where an eager queue of youngsters waited to tell him their Christmas wish.

Crowds lined the pavements as the town's brass band paraded through Main Street and marching bag-pipers stirred the soul.
