ULVERSTON'S councillors are seeking explanations for the proposed changes to staffing at the town's fire station.
As part of its Integrated Management Plan, Cumbria County Council has proposed changes to crewing arrangements at Ulverston Fire Station.
The proposal is to change the town's existing full-time fire engine to an eight-hour day shift model with on-call crewing outside of those hours.

Cllr Colin Pickthall, the leader of Ulverston Town Council, told the Gazette that members were concerned about any potential changes.
"We agreed that we were opposed to any diminution of the fire service in Ulverston and the immediate area," he said.
He said that at Monday night's council meeting, members had agreed to ask for the chief fire officer of Cumbria, Steve Healey, and county portfolio holder for fire and rescue, Cllr Janet Willis, to come to talk to the council.
"We all want to see that the fire service is not diminished in any way in Ulverston," Cllr Pickthall said.
