The hopes and prayers of an Ulverston church were answered with the release of Judith Tebbutt from Somalian pirates this morning.
Reverend Canon Alan Bing of St Mary’s Parish Church had organised a special day of prayer and fasting for Mrs Tebbutt prior to the news this morning that she had been released from captivity.
Revd Canon Bing said: “We have been praying regularly for Judith’s release since her capture six months ago and both the church and the local community have been seeking to support her family as best we can over this time so we are absolutely delighted to hear of her release.
“We had already organised a day of prayer and fasting for today so we will be thanking God for answering our prayers in this way.”
The day of prayers and fasting will continue until 8pm tonight.
