FOUR primary school children had a hoot of a time raising cash to support an owl sanctuary.

Helena Constantine, Matthew Constantine, Abby Littlefair and Joshua Fecitt, from Holme Primary School, have raised £650 since November.

Paul Rose and his owls recently visited the school for a day to collect their donation.

The whole school had the opportunity to spend some time with the owls, learning about their habits and individual personalities.

Paul regularly brings his owls from the Owl Sanctuary, a rescue and rehabilitation centre based in Barrow, to shopping centres and schools in South Lakeland to promote this charity.

Helena, Matthew, Josh and Abby planned a calendar of fundraising events to raise valuable money for the owls.

The support from their classmates and their families means they raised enough money to enable the school to donate to the Owl Sanctuary for the next three years.

Helena said: “It would be good if the four of us handed down the owl responsibility to the next Year 6 children, so that it could keep going on for years and years. All the children in Holme will get to meet the owls, and we will all feel happy that we have helped them.”

And headteacher Angela Anderson added: “The children had shown great enterprise in bringing this project together.”
