PARENTS of children starting at Cumbria’s primary and secondary schools in September 2015 can now apply for places.
Cumbria County Council has launched the online application process and updated its website with all the relevant information to help people with their applications.
Applications, which can either be made directly online or by printing out downloadable copies of the relevant forms, have to be made by the following dates:
L For current Year 6 children to transfer from primary or junior to secondary school – October 31 2014.
L For children in Year 2 at infant schools to transfer to junior or primary schools – January 15 2015.
L For September 2015 reception places in infant and primary schools – January 15 2015.
A council spokesman said families who submit applications after these closing dates are considerably less likely to receive an offer for a place at one of their preference schools.

Hard copies of the form are also available from schools or the county council’s schools admissions and appeals team who can also provide support to those applying for a school place.
