P.E. lessons at primary schools are being given a massive leg up thanks to a huge boost in funding.
More than £150million is being set aside to improve P.E. lessons as part of the P.E. and sport premium fund.
South Lakes MP Tim Farron believes that most local schools stand to benefit by nearly £9,000 under the scheme.
Some of the local schools about to receive money are Flookburgh CofE Primary School, Ambleside CofE Primary School, Grange CofE Primary School, Allithwaite CofE Primary School, Old Hutton CofE School, Sedbergh Primary School, and Milnthorpe Primary School.
Research has shown 90% of schools improved the quality of their PE lessons as a result of the funding.
Tim said: "This money means children in Cumbria will be able to take part in even more sport in primary schools. Sport can help children to build confidence, understand teamwork and, above all, stay healthy."
