KENDAL College is launching its first ever large-scale Apprenticeship and Careers fair to help set youngsters on the road to success.

The event, taking place today (March 12) at the main campus on Milnthorpe Road, will include more than 30 employers to keep students' options open.

BAE Systems, Cumbria County Council, Gilbert Gilkes & Gordon, the British Red Cross and many more will attend to help guide young people into the career that is right for them.

There are more than 30 current apprenticeship programmes available at Kendal College and it works closely with employers to develop skilled training programmes to complement practical work experience.

Graham Wilkinson, principal at Kendal College, said: “Whether you’re just leaving school, looking for a new skill, or even considering a career change, an apprenticeship could very well be the answer. Our apprentices enjoy the experience of studying at Kendal College, which is reflected in the fact that they are consistently outperforming the national average by 16 per cent in their overall success rates.

“Nowadays, apprentices are potentially the lifeblood of the economy. These are the people who really want to learn and have made the decision to continually develop new skills and gain valuable qualifications whilst on the path to their chosen career, so we’re pleased to be supporting National Apprenticeship Week with this event.”

Around 800 apprentices are now studying with the college across subjects ranging from Construction and Engineering to Business Administration and IT.
