Former Ingleton and Settle College student Sam Bolton has more reasons to celebrate just weeks after receiving his A-Level grades of four A*s in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics.

The Examination Board OCR confirmed Sam was within the top 25 highest-performing students in Chemistry in the country. More 5,000 students took the course.

Sam is now waiting to hear whether he has been awarded a special prize by the Salters’ Institute in honour of his achievements. Prizes are awarded for the most impressive individual investigation and for high achievement overall in all assessments.

Assistant Principal of Settle College Suzanne Doyle said: “We knew Sam must be right up there in terms of his achievements, as he was awarded full marks in most of his examination modules this summer in all four subjects.

"Regardless of whether Sam is recognised with a prize, we couldn’t be more proud of him. His results are a testament to the thoughtful and dedicated approach he adopted towards his studies throughout his time at Settle College.

"Sam is such an unassuming character, but we have no doubt his talents will soon be spotted at Durham University. We wish him every success.”
