AN anonymous donor is keen to give £200,000 to help keep the Ambleside campus of the University of Cumbria alive.
The money would go towards setting up a new Charlotte Mason College Foundation which is the brainchild of Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron who is leading a campaign against the proposed ‘mothballing’ of the site.
Mr Farron believes he would be able to gain funding from other sources, but only on the understanding that the academic board agree to keep undergraduate provision at the campus.
He said: “The point is I would be fairly confident of finding good sums of money from other people as well if we get an agreement from the university that Ambleside will be saved.”
