A LOCAL landscape charity is raising a glass for its 80th birthday in style by having its own beer brewed.
Friends of the Lake District has teamed up with Bowness Bay Brewing Company, which has brewed a special beer, to an 80-year-old local recipe.
‘Friends Ale’ will be made to a 1934 recipe from Kendal brewers Whitwell Mark and will be matured to be ready to buy in limited edition bottles for Christmas 2014.
It will also be on sale in bottled and draught format at the Westmorland Beer Festival from October 8-11.
Only 300 bottles will be produced, for sale at £15.95, and a percentage of the price will go to the Friends.
