A RECORD 880 head of pedigree and commercial livestock have been entered for this year's Borderway Agri Expo, which takes place in Carlisle tomorrow (Friday).

With a total prize fund of £14,000, the Harrison & Hetherington show features 26 cattle classes, 20 sheep classes and six major breed society shows.

There are over 165 trade stands and educational exhibits, including the The Lincoln Red Cattle Society , representing one of the oldest of the UK's native breeds, making its first appearance and the Berrichon Sheep Society returning for a second year.

Harrison & Hetherington's operations director, David Pritchard, said: “Agri Expo has grown phenomenally in size and reputation in the eight years we have been running the event not only do we have the very best of cattle and sheep showing classes visitors also have the opportunity to find out about key developments in the livestock industry.”

“This year, we have developed extra parking space to cope with the high numbers of exhibitors and the 12,000-plus visitors we are expecting.”
